If you have been on Instagram anytime in the past year chances are you have double tapped an awe-inspiring photo for Mexico\u2019s bohemian town just south of Cancun, Tulum!<\/p>\n

This gorgeous beach town has more than just looks going for it though. Here are five reasons you are sure to fall in love with Tulum.<\/p>\n

1. THE VIBES<\/h3>\n

Tulum<\/a>, a small town in the Mexican Riviera, is everything people claim it to be. The hippy vibes and laid back soul of the people permeates all of the shops, restaurants and bars.<\/p>\n

For those who love bohemian beach culture or those who have never truly experienced it, Tulum is the perfect place to relax, recharge and center yourself.<\/p>\n

2. THE FOOD<\/h3>\n

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like Mexican food but I never understood people who LOVE Mexican food until I went to Tulum. It took me going to Mexico to fall for the comforting flavors and delicious freshness of the cuisine.<\/p>\n

From seafood and tacos to fresh fruit popsicles, everything tasted good! Whether you are in town at a local restaurant, or splurge on some of the fine dining spots along the beach chances are you are about to have a memorable meal.<\/p>\n

And if a woman offers you crepes on the beach I highly recommend buying a few (both sweet and savory were perfectly delicious)!<\/p>\n

3. THE BEACHES<\/h3>\n

The Caribbean is known for its stunning beaches and Mexico’s eastern coast is no exception. Tulum is particularly special because it is so lightly influenced by the human presence.<\/p>\n

The jungle kisses the beaches and much of it is part of a protected reserve. That leaves the beaches unobstructed by massive concrete developments and sparsely scattered with beach clubs.<\/p>\n

And the further north you go to the Archeological zone the more crystal clear the waters become and white the sand seems.<\/p>\n

\n4. THE NATURAL WONDERS<\/h3>\n

The Yucatan peninsula is filled with geological formations known as cenotes. These underground caves and swimming holes filled with fresh cool water are just as alluring as the salty, aquamarine ocean waters.<\/p>\n

\n5. THE HISTORY<\/h3>\n

During mayan times Tulum served as a seaport and trade hub<\/a>. As the only coastal Mayan city, Tulum\u2019s ruins are particularly spectacular against the ocean and conservation area to the west and north. Be sure to wear your bathing suit to these ruins because there are small but stunning beaches below the cliffs on which the ruins sit!<\/p>\n
