This breathtaking site features impressive white rock formations and sea caves ideal for swimming.<\/p>\n The magical bay of Kleftiko offers an unforgettable experience. If you rent a boat,<\/a> you can float in the emerald waters, surrounded by towering rock pillars. It’s genuinely one of the most unique destinations in Milos.<\/p>\n Milos is well-known for its delightful traditional fishing villages by the sea, each with a unique, picturesque character. Among the most popular are Klima and Mandrakia.<\/p>\n These underground tombs, dating from the 1st to the 5th centuries AD, are some of the most important early Christian monuments in Greece. Situated near the village of Tripiti, they are close to the site where the renowned Venus de Milo<\/a> statue was found.<\/p>\n The catacombs extend approximately 200 meters underground, and consist of narrow passageways that connect chambers where early Christians secretly worshipped and buried their deceased.<\/p>\n Perched on a hill in the northern region of the island, Plaka is the capital of Milos. This enchanting area showcases picturesque whitewashed streets, characteristic of the Greek islands.<\/p>\n The vibrant blue doors, friendly cats, and flourishing bougainvillea trees create a colorful contrast against the white backdrop, making Plaka an ideal spot for Instagram photos<\/a> where every corner is captivating.<\/p>\n You can easily spend at least a few hours exploring the winding streets and absorbing the magical ambiance of this charming location.<\/p>\n One of the best things of Milos is how absolutely stunning and yet diverse its beaches are. Be sure to make time during your stay to explore at least a few of the island’s 70 beaches. There are so many magical beaches here, and that’s part of what makes Milos so special.<\/p>\n Some excellent beaches are Sarakiniko, Tsigrado, Firiplaka and Paleochori. And if you stay at Skinopi Lodge,<\/a> you can enjoy an exclusive beach day at your own private cove. <\/p>\n Situated on Milos’ northern coast, Sarakiniko Beach is the island’s most photographed area. Kostantakis Cave Winery<\/a> is an ideal destination to savor local Greek wines in the serene countryside of Milos.<\/p>\n Situated just outside Pollonia, this family-operated winery is the only one on the island, providing a unique chance to experience traditional Cycladic winemaking.<\/p>\n The vineyard is small but delightful, featuring stone cellars, lush vines, and a cozy tasting room where you can sample their artisanal wines. These wines are crafted using conventional methods, often showcasing indigenous grapes of the Cyclades.<\/p>\n Tucked away in the shadow of its popular neighbor, Milos, the tiny island of <\/span>Kimolos <\/span>remains one of Greece\u2019s best-kept secrets. With its sugar-white houses, tranquil beaches, and a pace of life that seems to have paused in time, Kimolos offers travelers an authentic slice of the Cyclades without the crowds.<\/span><\/p>\n What makes Kimolos Island truly special is its <\/span>raw, unpolished beauty<\/span>. There are no glitzy resorts or busy nightlife scenes\u2014just turquoise coves, volcanic landscapes, and starry skies unmarred by city lights.<\/span><\/p>\n If you’re visiting Milos, I highly suggest spending a few days on Kimolos Island as well. The picturesque fishing villages scattered along its coast, offer locals and visitors a wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish. <\/p>\n There’s nothing better than enjoying the catch of the day at an open-air restaurant in Milos, paired with a great local wine and a killer sunset. The island’s culinary scene is gaining popularity, and for good reason. Here ten of the top rated restaurants on Milos Island.<\/p>\n The island doesn’t boast many nightclubs or energetic beach parties. Still, it more than compensates with a range of fun bars that serve strong drinks, showcase local character, and offer beautiful surroundings.<\/p>\n From cocktail lounges to traditional cafes, these spots offer a tranquil, genuine experience, making them a refreshing alternative to the more touristy islands. Here are some great spots to grab a drink on Milos Island. <\/p>\n During high season, there are multiple flights daily from Athens International Airport to Milos Airport. There are also multiple ferry rides <\/a>daily. In low season, flights are limited so be sure to book well in advance of your trip. <\/p>\n I visited Milos at the beginning of October. On this trip, I flew direct from LA to Athens, then took a flight from Athens to Milos, then traveled on to Kimolos Island<\/a> where I spent four nights. I opted to spent time in Milos on my return, so I took a ferry from Kimolos back to Milos, then a ferry from Milos back to Athens. <\/p>\n Originally I had panned to fly back to Athens, but I waited too long to book my return flight, and they sold out. Be sure to book in advance, if you prefer to fly. I had heard terrible things about the ferry ride from Milos to Athens, but it was actually a pleasant experience. The ferry was massive, very nice, and the ride was smooth the entire journey despite it being a mildly stormy day. There was ample seating onboard the ferry, and multiple bars to purchase drinks and food. <\/p>\n The ferry<\/a> from Milos to Athens takes about 3.5 hours with stops along the way. It’s a scenic ride, and a great way to see other islands on your journey to or from Milos to Athens, or vice versa. As someone who has both flown and taken a ferry from Athens to Milos and back, I can honestly say both are great, easy options.<\/p>\n The best times to visit Milos are during the shoulder months of June and September. These months offer a nice combination of great weather, warm ocean temperatures, and reduced crowds. July and August are considered “high season,” and are the hottest and busiest months on Milos, while the first week of October marks the end of the season.<\/p>\n Milos has a Mediterranean climate, characterized by mostly sunny, beautiful summers that attract tourists to its beaches for sunbathing. June through August are the hottest months, while December through February are the coldest.<\/p>\n I visited Milos the first week of October. It was stormy one day but the weather was still warm and pleasant, and the rest of my time on the island was warm and perfect for swimming and exploring the island. <\/p>\n I hope this Milos guide helps you plan an unforgettable trip to this beautiful destination.
