Once a quiet fishing village, this French Riviera gem has become the ultimate playground for celebrities, jet-setters, and friends looking to indulge in a chic summer escape. If you’re dreaming of glamorous beach clubs, boutique shopping, and a taste of the high life, St. Tropez delivers in every way.

There’s nothing quite like a summer getaway with your best girlfriends, and St. Tropez offers the perfect blend of relaxation, indulgence, and unforgettable memories. From sunbathing at world-famous beach clubs to sipping rosé overlooking the Mediterranean, this French Riviera destination feels like it was designed for a luxurious girls’ trip.

Here’s my guide to to planning an unforgettable summer girls getaway in St Tropez, with my suggestions for the best beach clubs, excellent dinner spots, where to stay, what to wear, and fun things to do in this beautiful seaside hot spot.

Summertime St Tropez Experience: What To Expect

I’ve been lucky to visit St Tropez on five different trips during the summer months, and I have always loved my time in this very fun, luxury hot spot.

The ideal time to book lunch at one of the famed St Tropez beach clubs (see my beach club suggestions below), is 3:30pm. By 4:30pm everyone is up dancing, singing and having a great time. If you want to relax on lounge chairs by the sea after lunch, I suggest reserving beach chairs at the same beach club at 5pm. The beach clubs in St Tropez usually stay open until about 6:30pm in June, July and August.

There are two dinner seatings in the summer in St Tropez. The first seating is 8pm. If you want to have a quiet dinner without being surrounded by music and partying, I suggest booking the early seating. The second seating, which is the most popular seating during summer in St Tropez, is 10pm. By 11pm everyone will be up dancing, singing and waving their napkins around, so be prepared for a dinner party!

There are also small, quiet cafes you can go to in old town that don’t have a loud party vibe – if you prefer a late quiet dinner. Most of the small restaurants, located on the little side streets in Old Town St Tropez, don’t require reservations even in the summer. But if you want to book a fun party place for dinner (see my suggestions below), you will need to book in advance as all the best places get booked up.

St Tropez is notoriously expensive, so be prepared to dish out some serious cash if you want to go to the best beach clubs and dinner spots. But I promise, the experience will be worth it!

On average, for two people (if you are drinking alcohol, or in our case too many bottles of rosé), expect to pay between 300 – 700 euros for lunch at a beach club, plus beach beds by the sea there after (a must!). For the popular dinner spots, dinner will run you anywhere from 250 – 600 euros for two people. In the summertime, hotels are anywhere from 400 euros to 2,500 euros per night.

During my recent visit in August, my girlfriend and I opted to rent a small flat in old town via Airbnb to save money, but if you want the full luxury St Tropez summer experience, I’m sharing a list of great hotel options below.

What To Wear In The Summer In St. Tropez

St. Tropez is all about laid-back chic style. The French know how to dress to impress, and summer in St Tropez is the place to show off those glamorous summer outfits that might be collecting dust in your closet.

But while St Tropez is glamorous, this is not the trip to pack your Louboutin stiletto heels. Like most of the best European town, St Tropez is a walking city. The nightlife here is situated around the harbor and old town St Tropez, which is made of tiny, winding cobblestone streets. If you are set on wearing heels at night, pack comfortable chunky heels, but nice sandals, paired with a cute dress, is more than fine.

For beach clubs, attire generally consists of a bathing suit with a chic cover up. If you’re a bit modest (that’s not me lol), you can wear a pretty sundress paired with nice sandals. But this is not the place for your own warn out flip flops, so if you don’t have a nice pair of flats ,I suggest splurging on a pair for your luxurious girls getaway in St Tropez.

For shopping and exploring, a sundress or shorts and a cute top paired with flats is ideal. It’s very hot in St Tropez in the summer, (average temperature during the day is 81°F), so dress in light clothing and make sure to pack a cute hat and lots of sunscreen.

The Best Hotels In St Tropez

There are few locations on earth that rival the glitz and glam of Saint Tropez. This once-quiet fishing village has evolved over time, shedding its free-spirited bohemian roots to become a vibrant party haven and, more recently, a playground for the global elite.

When selecting accommodation options, it’s essential to plan ahead, as many hotels discreetly reserve rooms for their regular guests. Moreover, in the spirit of Saint-Tropez, visitors frequently extend their stays, further reducing the availability of rooms.

There are four primary options for places to stay in St Tropez: hotels, villas, yachts, and flats (apartments). If a hotel is your accommodation of choice, here are some excellent options, divided into luxury and mid-range.

Luxury St Tropez Hotels

Hotel Byblos Saint-Tropez – Nestled in the lively atmosphere of Saint-Tropez, this opulent sanctuary offers a pristine white sand beach and a stylish poolside bar. You can charter a yacht for a scenic coastal cruise or enjoy a leisurely lunch that naturally evolves into a lively afternoon at a beach club.

For me, the serene moments were wandering through the tiny cobblestone streets in Old Town St Tropez, enjoying the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, and engaging in fun conversations seaside, fueled, of course, by too much rosé. Here are 10 must do activities for an unforgettable summer in St Tropez!

1) Visit the Citadel

Perched a few steps above the heart of St. Tropez village is the Citadel. Built in the 17th century at the highest point of the town, it was designed for guards to keep watch over the village and identify potential threats.

2) Go Wine Tasting in the Côtes de Provence

If you’ve ever savored a glass of rosé, it’s likely that it came from the Côtes de Provence, a wine region situated in southeastern France along the Mediterranean coast. An impressive 80% of the wine produced here is rosé, making a visit to one of the local wineries for a tasting an excellent choice.

It’s highly recommended to dedicate a morning or afternoon to a wine tasting, as the areas around the village of St. Tropez are dotted with vast vineyards. Wine production is an integral part of the culture in the French Riviera.

3) Go Shopping

Experience a day of shopping and wandering through the charming, pastel-hued buildings and narrow streets of St. Tropez. You’ll find a variety of French designer boutiques, featuring renowned brands such as Saint Laurent, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Dior.

4) Explore La Ponche

La Ponche, the historic heart of the old fishing village, is situated just below the Citadel. This area is a wonderful place to experience the rich history and culture of St. Tropez.

The picturesque, winding streets are filled with delightful shops, high-end boutiques, charming cafés, and traditional restaurants, all of which add to the appeal of La Ponche. It is truly a must-visit destination in St. Tropez.

5) Explore Old Town St Tropez

After a leisurely stroll in the harbor you must explore old town St Tropez! Here you’ll find an array of cute boutiques, restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries.

6) Walk Along the Old Port

A walk along the Old Port is a must when exploring La Plonche. The surroundings feature an array of fishing boats, yachts, and colorful homes, along with many cafes that provide outdoor terraces with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea.

7) Go shop at the Place des Lices Market

The Place des Lices Market is an outdoor market situated in a popular plaza. It features a diverse selection of fresh goods, along with locally crafted items and gifts. This market offers an authentic look at daily life in St. Tropez.

8) Boat Day

There’s no better way to spend a day in St Tropez than lounging on a yacht. If it’s in your group’s budget, I highly suggest splurging on a boat rental for the day – or better yet yet make friends with someone who has a yacht!

9) Dinner Party & Dancing

The French know how to party and St Tropez is the ultimate nightlife spot. You can’t go to St Tropez without booking at least a couple fun dinners at lively restaurants. Book the 10pm seating and by 11pm everyone will be up dancing!

After dinner there are usually fun parties at different restaurants and clubs around town, or house parties at villas or on mega yachts!

10) Lunch Party + Lounge At A Beach Club

Visiting a couple of the popular beach clubs in St. Tropez is highly recommended. The primary beach, Pampelonne Beach, is situated in the adjacent town of Ramatuelle just a short drive from old town St Tropez.

Although sunbed reservations can be expensive, the price provides all-day access to a stunning private beach, complete with facilities like restrooms, umbrellas, and waitstaff for food and drink orders. If you’re not familiar with the area or its beaches, securing a reserved spot to relax by the Mediterranean Sea is a must. See below for my beach club recommendations!

The Best Beach Clubs In St Tropez

St Tropez is know for its incredible beach clubs. However, this peak season brings large crowds and significantly higher hotel rates.

To avoid the hustle and bustle of peak season, consider visiting during the shoulder months, in late May, end of August or early September. These times offer a more relaxed atmosphere with fewer tourists and better prices. However some of the best restaurants and beach clubs might not yet be open in May and might close for the season at the end of August.

While there isn’t a single universal opening date for all clubs, the peak summer season, when most clubs are open and the atmosphere is most vibrant, is from mid June to mid August. In contrast, the winter transforms St. Tropez into a near ghost town, as many hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, and nightclubs are closed.

Girls Getaway St Tropez Guide Wrap Up

I hope you’ve found this guide to St Tropez helpful!
