Since the international airport opened in Cambodia, tourists have flocked to Siem Reap to visit the temples of Angkor Wat. Cambodia is a true gem in Asia and here are 9 reasons that you should visit!<\/p>\n

1. PRICE<\/h3>\n

Travelling always involves expenses and most often requires a lot of money. So when it is time to decide  what the next vacation should look like and where to go, your bank account probably has the final say. Tourists looking for cheap hotels, food, groceries and just generally trying to keep their expenses at a minimum will love Cambodia.<\/p>\n

2. WEATHER<\/h3>\n

Cold people, like me, will love the Cambodian weather. The temperature ranges from about 25\u00b0C to 40\u00b0C, depending on what time of the year you visit. There are two distinct seasons \u2013 dry (October to late April) and wet (May to late September). Within each season there are variations in temperature, with the final dry months leading up to the wet season (March and April) and the early months of the wet season (May and June) usually being the hottest of the year with temperatures in excess of 35\u00b0C at times. It is very humid during March and April while the coolest months are usually between October and December, however what is considered “cool” for Cambodia is far from chilly (avg temperatures 24\u00b0C – 26\u00b0C). Despite having two distinct weather seasons you can travel in Cambodia all-year-round.<\/p>\n

3. LANDSCAPE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If I only were allowed to use one word to describe Cambodian\u2019s landscape it would be stunning! Cambodia’s scenery displays everything from beautiful mangrove rivers and jungles, over tiny villages with wooden shacks, to white sand beaches and crystal clear blue water. It has something to offer for everyone\u2019s taste.<\/p>\n

No matter how long you stay, you will probably never ran out of things to do in Cambodia. Even if you see all the many temples and historic places, such as Angkor Wat<\/a>, Bayon Temple<\/a>, and Ta Prohm<\/a>, just to name a few, there will still be many beautiful, hidden beaches and islands to discover. 5. FRUIT<\/h3>\n

For someone who loves fruit, this country will be your heaven. Since Cambodia is located in Asia, they sell the most intense and best tasting fruit. Not only do they sell the yummiest fruit, but also for ridiculously cheap prices. Coming from overseas, I at first couldn\u2019t believe I was only paying 25 cents for a mango!<\/p>\n

6. PEOPLE<\/h3>\n

By now you probably have realized that I fell in love with this country. People usually play a major part in whether you like a place or not. And guess what, the people of Cambodia made me love their motherland even more because of them<\/em>! Some can become a little pushy by trying to sell their services or goods, but generally it can be said that the people of Cambodia are super open, polite, generous and friendly.<\/p>\n

7. CULTURE & TRADITION<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m pretty sure that Cambodia is a country which is not on very many \u201ctravel wish lists.\u201d But that alone should be reason enough to travel there on your next trip. Cambodia’s different cultures and traditions \u2013 which are alive in every place \u2013 make your stay a very special experience.<\/p>\n

8. RELAXING ATMOSPHERE<\/h3>\n

Associated with their tradition and culture is Cambodia’s relaxed way of looking at things. I can\u2019t imagine any situation that could ruffle them. I found it to be a very nice atmosphere to be in for one\u2019s vacation.<\/p>\n

9. APPRECIATING WHAT YOU HAVE<\/h3>\n

The majority of citizens are very poor. I\u2019ve even been to parts of the country where they couldn\u2019t send their children to school and where parents couldn\u2019t afford a pencil or journal for their children. And for so many just finding clean drinking water is a huge<\/em> challenge. What first made me really sad, later opened my eyes and let me realize how rich I actually am. And by rich I don\u2019t mean money. These people, owning nothing but a big heart and the happiest smile, taught me to see things and life differently.<\/p>\n

The Cambodia Clean Water Project is a non-profit that provides water filtration systems to poor families in Cambodia who do not have access to clean drinking water. Water related diseases kill 2.2 million people every year and a majority are children. This project helps the most vulnerable people in remote areas of Cambodia where 76% of all deaths are caused by waterborne diseases.
