Marrakech is a city of beautiful chaos. There is an undeniable energy walking around the Medina, seeing all the amazing sights, and trying the exotic food. Part of the allure of Marrakech is that the city has retained its authenticity despite the recent boom in tourism. You still see people going about their daily lives, locals buying their vegetables for their nightly dinner and masses of people attending prayer at one of the many mosques.<\/p>\n

The city feels so alive but can also be somewhat exhausting. Finding myself in Marrakech with a gap between running our latest Travel Girls Getaways<\/a>, I was looking to unwind away from the energy of the city. Luckily I found a very relaxing boutique hotel named Les 5 Djellabas, which was a great spot to find some quiet time!<\/p>\n

An Oasis Outside Marrakech Center<\/h3>\n

Les 5 Djellabas<\/a> is located just outside the center of Marrakech in the Palmeraie area. This means that the property is serenely quiet, with the only noises coming from the birds in the many trees surrounding the property. Compared to the constant stream of noise from motorbikes and people in the Medina, this peaceful ambiance was exactly what I was looking for. Also, the hotel can always arrange a quick 20 minute ride into the main center if you are looking to explore the city (plus if you book 3 nights or more then you get a roundtrip transfer every day for free!).<\/p>\n

Space To Relax<\/h3>\n

Les 5 Djellabas is set on one hectare of well-kept grounds and has 10 rooms total, with 5 suites and 5 deluxe suites. The property itself is beautiful, and after winding through an off beaten road you are welcomed to a very impressive entrance that looks like it belongs in a guidebook! For those of you into photography or getting that perfect Instagram shot, Les 5 Djellabas has plenty of areas to get some good snaps, especially the front entrance. You can also walk to the top of the main entrance building to get a beautiful view of the sunset and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The smaller size of the property means the experience is more intimate and you recognize the familiar faces of the other guests. Most people spend their day lounging around the beautiful pool, with plenty of sun loungers for everyone. I was a particular fan of the double-sized beds surrounded by trees, a great place to soak up the sun and read a good summer book. If you prefer to read inside, there is a great reading library ad bar right next to the pool, complete with all sorts of books for you to borrow during your stay.<\/p>\n

Freshly Prepared Meals<\/h3>\n

All meals are prepared on-site at the hotels in house restaurant<\/a>. Breakfast is included in your stay and you can have it wherever you like, and most guests opt to start their day with breakfast outside the rooms on their private table and chairs. Nothing beats a full breakfast spread with the morning light in the beautiful garden! Lunch can be arranged anywhere on the hotel grounds as well, with many people eating by the pool.<\/p>\n

For dinner, you place your order by 5pm that night, which ensures the hotel only buys the ingredients it needs and the food is prepared as fresh as possible. If you want to have dinner in the Medina instead, you can visit the hotel\u2019s partner restaurant Le Foundouk<\/a>, which regularly gets top reviews and is known as one of the best in the city!<\/p>\n

The Bungalow Life<\/h3>\n

After a long day of sightseeing, or laying by the pool in the Moroccan sun, you will want to have a place to come back and relax. The rooms<\/a> are a garden oasis, with all the bungalows freestanding so they feel private and exclusive. The tall thatched roofs reminded me of some of the beautiful places in Bali, and each room is filled with the modern amenities you would expect of a luxury boutique hotel.<\/p>\n

The bed is supremely comfortable, the large flat-screen TV made it for the perfect evening activity, and the bathroom was so unique looking that I did my own little photo shoot in it! The rooms are a great mix of modern luxury and traditional comfort, and I slept extremely well each night.<\/p>\n

Les 5 Djellabas Wrap Up<\/h3>\n

I hope this write up gives you a small taste of my time at Les 5 Djellabas. I prefer small boutique hotels to large chains wherever possible, and Les 5 Djellabas is definitely the type of property I like. I can\u2019t overstate how nice it was to get out of the hectic Medina for a brief stay, and it was exactly the relaxation time I needed to recharge before welcoming my next Travel Girls Getaway group. If you are looking for a boutique luxury hotel just outside of the Marrakech center, give Les 5 Djellabas a try next time you are in Morocco!<\/p>\n
