2018 has shaped up to be the year of women’s group travel, with lots of female travel groups starting their own trips. In 2017 we launched our own Travel Girls Getaways<\/a> trips, adding new destinations in 2018 and we have big plans for 2019 and beyond. With so many trips to choose from we wanted to share a bit more about our Travel Girls Getaways with you, why they differ to other group trips and why you should book your spot on an upcoming Travel Girls Getaway! <\/p>\n

WHAT IS A TRAVEL GIRLS GETAWAY?<\/h3>\n

Travel Girls Getaways are women’s group trips created by the founders of We Are Travel Girls. We launched these girls getaways in 2017 with two all-inclusive educational business retreats in Bali. They sold out within a couple of weeks and these trips went so well we knew we had to do more! <\/p>\n

We decided that we would create a variety of trips to suit the adventurous female traveller and allow women to join more than one of our girls getaways. We now run educational group retreats, active escapes, charitable trips and country tours in different destinations around the world, so there is a type of trip to suit every type of traveller. <\/p>\n

WHO IS THE TYPICAL GIRL WHO JOINS A TRAVEL GIRLS GETAWAY? <\/h3>\n

Our typical age demographic is women in their 20’s and 30’s. They are usually women with great careers who want to use their (limited) vacation time by going on an epic adventure. Many women come on our trips solo and some come with friends or family. We have had tech entrepreneurs, pilots, marketing specialists, nurses, accident and emergency doctors, lawyers and many other backgrounds joining our trips. <\/p>\n

WHAT TYPE OF TRIPS DO WE RUN? <\/h3>\n

We run carefully curated all-inclusive getaways. Each of our trips takes us about one year to plan from the moment we start researching a new destination to actually welcoming our guests. This means that every aspect of the trip has been planned and thought about so that you can just book your spot, arrange your flights and show up knowing that we have all the finer details planned to perfection for you! We have positioned our trips as ‘affordable luxury’, this means you will be staying in luxurious accommodations, enjoy meals at a destinations best restaurants, enjoy once in a lifetime experiences have the best guides and overall a luxurious experience without the hefty price tag. <\/p>\n

HOW DO WE DIFFER TO OTHER TRIPS<\/h3>\n

Well, first of all we will caveat this with the fact that we have not personally joined other women’s groups trips. We like to think ours are pretty incredible so we will tell you where we feel that we differentiate ourselves!<\/p>\n

First of all, we are not part of the ‘travel with an Instagram celebrity’ movement. Our trips are not about travelling with a famous Instagrammer \/ Influencer, and instead are aimed at women who want to travel with a group of likeminded women and build connections with a group and not just an individual who is leading the trip.<\/p>\n

Secondly, we dedicate our time to this part of the business. When we travel it is typically to research a future destination, so we spend most of our year planning our women’s group getaways rather than travelling the world ourselves. This means that we can dedicate our time to creating an absolutely amazing trip for you, with every aspect carefully curated and planned.<\/p>\n

Thirdly, we don’t want to wing it and hope for the best. As mentioned we spend a huge amount of time planning and ensuring we give you the best experience imaginable. We are extremely detail oriented and genuinely care that our guests have an amazing time!<\/p>\n

We want to connect with you. Our trips are always hosted by Founder Becky van Dijk<\/a>, and on some getaways our co-founder Vanessa Rivers<\/a> will co-host<\/span>. One of the greatest parts of running this business is getting to meet all the intelligent, inspiring and wonderful women who make it up – so we love to meet you on our getaways and continue to have you as friends after. Let’s start with the most important reason to join a Travel Girls Getaway trip and in fact the reason we even launched these women’s group trips in the first place! To make new, lasting and meaningful connections with women from all over the globe. Many of the women who join our group trips come solo. Our women’s group trips give you the opportunity to travel ‘solo’ in a safe and managed way to some countries you may prefer not to go alone. Since our trips are all-inclusive, we will have arranged airport transfers, all your transportation throughout the trip, knowledgeable guides and drivers, and a host who will make sure that the group stays together. We have scouted the destinations, hotels, restaurants and points of interest to make sure everything that we offer is planned and you can relax and enjoy the trip.<\/p>\n

3) GIVE BACK TO THE COUNTRY<\/h3>\n

On all of our Travel Girls Getaways we will look for a way to give back, even in a small way to the country or communities that we are visiting. This portion of the trip will range from a few days of charity work, like on our Malawi Safari and Charity trip, to a lunch at a women’s education centre, such as Amal in Marrakech. One of the goals on our trips is to help educate the women who join us about the country and also make them aware of some of the challenges that country or the women in the country may face. We know that we cannot make a huge difference, but we will try to ensure we give back in some small way. <\/p>\n

4) OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A MEANINGFUL FUNDRAISER<\/h3>\n

Prior to our Travel Girls Getaways, we work with organisations in the country to determine where there are significant needs that we can fundraise for. On our 2017 Malawi trip we raised US $14,000 for reusable sanitary pads for Rainbow Hope School and to be distributed to many other schools around the country to provide young women with this basic sanitary care that many of them cannot afford. For each of our 2019 trips we will look to arrange a fundraiser that you can participate on a voluntary basis and then visit the organisation we are donating to so that you can see the impact of your contributions. <\/p>\n

5) GET CONTENT FOR YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA & BLOG OR JUST FOR YOURSELF<\/h3>\n

On all of our trips Becky van Dijk will be on hand to take your photos and shoot videos from the trip that we will share with you once the trip is done. As well as being a host on all of our getaways, Becky loves taking photos and will make sure you have plenty of beautiful images capturing your time on our trip to share with your friends, family and followers!<\/p>\n

6) TRAVEL, EVEN WHEN YOU FRIENDS CANNOT<\/h3>\n

You can probably think of a time when you wanted to travel but you couldn’t align your schedule with your friends time off, or perhaps your friends don’t want to or have the means to travel to the places that you want to. For example, on our recent Morocco trip we got to head inside one of the houses in Chefchaouen owned by our guide’s friend, a place we never could have entered without being on a trip like ours!<\/p>\n

Above all, we want to create a place where you can have fun and enjoy your time with a group of new girlfriends. Some of our trips are educational, and some charitable, some more active and some exploring a country and learning its history – but the common thread throughout is the laughter that happens throughout the trip. We usually have a big group of 10-12 girls so we tend to take over the spots we visit and the restaurants we eat at with our chatter and laughter!<\/p>\n

After you have been on a Travel Girls Getaways trip we will add you to our private alumni Facebook group, connecting you with other women who have been on our trips. Not only will you have a group of new friendships created during your getaway but you will now be able to connect with and meet-up with women from all over the world. So many friendships have been created on our trips and we are also seeing women connect in the Facebook group and then meet-up even if they were not originally on the same getaway! <\/p>\n
