At some points in your life, you want to travel alone. If that is the case, why not start in the Philippines? The country has a lot to offer such as beautiful beaches and islands, great scenery, delectable foods, and hospitable locals. Visiting the Philippines offers one of a kind adventures. If it is your first time to travel without a companion, there are some things to take into consideration such as what to bring.<\/p>\n

1) BATANES<\/h3>\n

If the Philippines is your destination, Batanes should be on your bucket list. It is located at the northern part of the country and boasts rolling hills, step cliffs, deep canyons, old stone houses, war memorials, and lighthouses. It also offers pristine beaches and unspoiled landscapes.<\/p>\n

Batanes is an ideal place to go solo because it is one of the safest and most peaceful travel destinations. The crime rate for this mountainous and hilly island is almost zero. How’s that for a solo traveler? The climate in Batanes is tropical, but it also has a cold temperature due to its latitude. When it comes to touring the island, you can rent a motorbike, bicycle or hire a tricycle. Another option is to join group tours with other tourists. <\/p>\n

2) DAVAO CITY<\/h3>\n

Davao is a good choice of destination when traveling solo. To start with, it never disappoints you when it comes to tourist attractions. It has Mt. Apo, which is the tallest mountain in the Philippines. Davao also has the Island Garden City of Samal, Eden Nature Park, Davao Crocodile Park, the People’s park, and the Philippine Eagle Center that houses the Philippine Eagle, considered the largest eagle in the world. Don’t forget to bring and apply an insect repellent when venturing out on your solo trip. <\/p>\n

When in Davao, you can go white water rafting, and wade through the powerful rapids of the Davao river. You can go zip lining and choose to either experience the fastest one in Asia in Outland Adventure Xcelerator, or enjoy looking at the scenery at a slower pace in Zip City. Moreover, you can go wakeboarding, diving, and enjoy several other activities that you can do alone.<\/p>\n

3) PALAWAN<\/h3>\n

If you want your breath to be taken away, then head for Palawan. This place has been able to preserve its natural environment and marine systems. The beaches are really worthy to be explored. The coves and lagoons feature crystal clear water, allowing you to see the beauty under the sea. <\/p>\n

Palawan consists of more than 1,700 islands, but the popular ones are El Nido<\/a>, Puerto Princesa<\/a>, and Coron. The islands of Palawan are friendly to a solo traveler like you. Go island hopping or snorkeling in a hired boat. Remember to visit the underwater cave and experience swimming the brackish water there.<\/p>\n

Palawan also has exceptionally diverse underwater scenery, making some of the islands the best spots to dive. To complete your adventure in Palawan, take a selfie with the picturesque limestone cliffs, which are also an ideal place for the daring type who want to go cliff jumping.<\/p>\n

4) SAGADA<\/h3>\n

Sagada is situated between the Ilocos Range and Cordillera Ranges. Coming from Manila, the 12-hour commute will delight your eyes with splendid views. But, the best is yet to come until you reach the majestic landscapes that are perfect for romantic movies. If you don’t mind walking and climbing, while finding solace at the same time, you’ve come to the right place.<\/p>\n

There are many things to see in Sagada. You can find the hanging coffins, and mysterious caves among others. If you plan to see these unique spots, be ready to get wet. Also, check out the Echo Valley, wherein you may go rock climbing in the uphill landforms near the valley.<\/p>\n

But, the fun does not stop in the valleys and caves alone. There are water activities that you can do in Sagada such as white water rafting in the Upper Chico River. 
\nWhen you’re done with your day trip, you can relax at one of the quaint hostels in Sagada, indulge in delicious food, and meet the friendly locals.<\/p>\n

5) BOHOL<\/h3>\n

One of the must-visit places in the Philippines when traveling solo is Bohol. Probably the main reason why people head for Bohol is they want to see the Chocolate Hills. During summer, the world-famous hills turn brown, which makes them look like chocolate. While you are there, try bike zipping and an ATV ride in the Chocolate Hills Adventure Park.<\/p>\n

Bohol also offers the Balicasag Island Marine Sanctuary and the Blue Star Dive and Resort. These two have one thing in common, and that is you can go swimming with the turtles. It’s not every day that you get to experience this and be at one with nature.  Of course, your solo adventure in Bohol would not be complete without meeting the Philippine tarsier, which is known to be the smallest primate animal across the globe. <\/p>\n

6) BATAD, BANAUE<\/h3>\n

This province in the Philippines is a perfect haven for solo travelers. For one, the accommodations are reasonably priced. But, undoubtedly, the best spot in Banaue is the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Babaw Rice Terraces. <\/p>\n

It is internationally recognized as the Eighth Wonder of the World. You can enjoy more of the beauty of this historical place if you see the terraces up close. Aside from the rice terraces, there are other interesting places to see and explore in Batad such as the Tappiya Waterfalls, Papa Sitio, and Viewpoint. <\/p>\n

CONCLUSION<\/h3>\n

There are many reasons why traveling solo once in a while is a good idea. The Philippines has more than 7,000 islands to choose from, but you can start with the ones mentioned above. Depending on what you are looking for, they all have something to offer – enough to satisfy your adventurous soul.<\/p>\n
