Travelling with our bestie’s is one of the most fun ways to travel, whether with just one girlfriend or a group I just love the feeling of planning and going on a girls getaway!<\/p>\n

I have travelled to over 50 countries, sometimes solo, sometimes with my husband and many times with my girlfriends.<\/p>\n

In this article, I share 10 of our favourite destinations to go to on an international girls getaway so you can start planning your own!!<\/p>\n

1) THE GILI ISLANDS, INDONESIA<\/h3>\n

An hour and a half boat ride from Bali, you can hop over to the Gili Islands<\/a> – made up of Gili Air, Gili Meno and GilI Trawangan – to find the most beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise waters.<\/p>\n

Depending on your travel preferences you can pick an island that suits your group of girls, or visit them all since they are just a few minutes boat ride from one another.<\/p>\n

Gili Trawangan is the party island, but on the north side you can find some quiet, Gili Meno is the most relaxed of the three where you will spend your days exploring by bike and your evenings watching magnificent sunsets and Gili Air is somewhere in between the two, with more restaurant and bar options than Gili Meno, but a far more relaxed vibe than you will find on Gili T.<\/p>\n

But the one thing that all the islands offer is a great place to visit with friends and enjoy snorkelling, sunset cocktails, overwater swings and delicious food!<\/p>\n

2) POSITANO, ITALY<\/h3>\n

Whilst I have not visited Positano myself, We Are Travel Girls Co-Founder Vanessa Rivers has inspired me to go there in 2018. The gorgeous town on the coast of Italy seems like a perfect girls getaway destination.<\/p>\n

Taking a boat over to the island of Capri, spending lazy days at the beach drinking rose and eating lemon sorbet, exploring the coastline by moped all sound dreamy.<\/p>\n

So Positano has definitely reached the top of my bucket list, along with trips back to Cinque Terre<\/a>, Burano<\/a>, Florence<\/a>… oh the list of places in Italy to visit never ends, now I just need to convince my girlfriend’s to come with me!<\/p>\n

3) LAPLAND, FINLAND<\/h3>\n

Hands down, one of the most fun girls trips that I have been on was to Lapland, Finland to stay in the glass igloos at Kakslauttanen<\/a> and at the Arctic Ice Hotel in Rovaniemi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The combination of fun outdoor activities, such a snowmobiling, ice fishing and husky sledging, coupled with evenings watching out for the northern lights through the glass roof of the igloo bar with a mulled wine in hand made for the cosiest girls getaway.<\/p>\n

One of our favourite activities during the trip was running through the snow in our bikinis and warm hats to a private hot tub, where we sat under the stars whilst sharing a bottle of champagne!<\/p>\n

The best thing about doing this once in a lifetime trip with a group is that it significantly reduces the cost and makes it a more affordable adventure.<\/p>\n

4) CAPPADOCIA, TURKEY<\/h3>\n

Cheap flights from Istanbul to Cappadocia have made this part of Turkey extremely accessible to tourists.<\/p>\n

Cappadocia<\/a> is popular in spring and summer months and is also absolutely stunning in winter when the landscape is covered in snow, the year round beauty makes it a great place to organise a fun girls trip.<\/p>\n

Made famous by Instagram, one of the most popular places to stay is the Sultan Cave Suites<\/a> where you can watch the sunrise from the rooftop and capture those Insta-worthy shots with hot air balloons in the background.<\/p>\n

5) SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA<\/h3>\n

Siem Reap may not spring to mind immediately when you think of a girls getaway destination, but I can assure you this a great place to head with your girlfriends and you should do it ASAP!<\/p>\n

I visited Cambodia for the first time 15 years ago, and again earlier this year. The difference is dramatic, with a lot more tourists since the international airport opened.<\/p>\n

Siem Reap<\/a> is the gateway to visiting the temples of Angkor Wat<\/a>, which are so fun to explore with your bestie.<\/p>\n

When my friend Sarah and I visited many years ago, we ran around pretending we were Angelie Jolie in Tomb Raider for most of the time, now there are a few too many other people around to be quite so silly – but it is still an epic destination to explore with your friends.<\/p>\n

6) MYKONOS, GREECE<\/h3>\n

The white washed streets, blue doors, pretty beaches and nightlife make Mykonos<\/a> a fantastic escape in Europe. I have visited twice, once with girlfriends and once with my fiance, and loved the island both times.<\/p>\n

On a girls trip, you are spoiled for choice when looking for a bar to enjoy sunset cocktails, there are many activities such as paddle boarding or exploring the island on quad bikes and if retail therapy is your thing, you can spend your days shopping through the gorgeous narrow white washed streets.<\/p>\n

My favourite places to go with girlfriends are Mykonos Nammos restaurant and beach club<\/a> which turns into a party later in the day, and Hakkasan for cocktails and delicious dining in the evening.<\/p>\n

7) SAALBACH, AUSTRIA<\/h3>\n

Probably one of the most fun trips you can join is our Travel Girls Getaways ski retreats<\/a>. We held our first ski retreat in Saalbach, Austria at a beautiful eco hotel.<\/p>\n

We spent days on the slopes, enjoyed apres ski parties, had champagne breakfasts overlooking the Austrian Alps, had morning yoga on the snow and afternoons in the spa.<\/p>\n

8) OJAI, CALIFORNIA<\/h3>\n

One of my favourite places in California is the small town of Ojai in the mountains close to Santa Barbara<\/a>. Ojai is a great place to kick back, relax and unwind with some girlfriends. Activities on offer are hiking, cycling, yoga and my personal favourite – wine tasting.<\/p>\n

We stayed at the Ojai Rancho Inn<\/a>, a very affordable accommodation option that has a swimming pool and garden area with a nightly bonfire.<\/p>\n

My tip for a trip here is to go to the market, buy some cheese, wine and marshmallows and have yourself a little private garden party by the fire!<\/p>\n

9) TOKYO, JAPAN<\/h3>\n

In November I took my first trip to Japan with a group of girls on our Travel Girls Getaways<\/a> photography tour in collaboration with Lisa of TheWanderingLens.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There were seven girls exploring Tokyo together, going from traditional temples at sunrise to the craziness that is Harajuku and we loved every element of the city.<\/p>\n

I recommend getting up early so that you can beat the crowds at any of the temples or places of interest and also tying in a trip to stay in Kyoto<\/a> after your time in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
