This May, I made my first (and definitely not last!) trip to Morocco – to a sleepy little fishing village called Taghazout<\/a>. From the beaming recommendation of a good friend, I knew I had to see this little gem of a village for myself. So I flew from my home in Toulouse, France down to Agadir, Morocco and then took a taxi 45 minutes north to Taghazout.<\/p>\n

I booked my stay with Taghazout Surf Hostel<\/a> and chose their 7-day all-inclusive option. My stay included 7-nights\u2019 accommodation in a 4-bedroom dorm, all meals included, two yoga classes, wetsuit and surfboard rentals, transportation to and from the daily surf breaks, and a day trip to nearby Paradise Valley in the Moroccan High Atlas mountains.<\/p>\n

Honestly, my week in Taghazout was nothing short of amazing. From the kindred spirits and gentle souls I met along the way to the knowledge and awareness I gained about Morocco’s rich culture and history, this was undoubtedly one of my most special travel experiences. So, from one travel girl to the next, here are five of my top suggestions for anyone taking a trip to the wonderful village of Taghazout. 1) EXPLORE AND UNLEASH YOUR INNER PHOTOGRAPHER<\/h3>\n

Wandering around town while taking in and capturing the bright and beautiful colors of Taghazout will turn even the least photo-savvy of travelers into bona fide pros! Walking through the sleepy streets of this little village and quickly winding up on the tranquil beach as the town\u2019s fishermen were bringing in their fresh catches of the morning will forever be etched in my mind. I personally preferred cooler and less-populated early morning strolls to wandering around in the hot and sometimes-crowded afternoons.<\/p>\n

2) ENJOY A BREAKFAST SHAKE AT A BEACHFRONT CAFE<\/h3>\n

Exploring sleepy Taghazout first thing in the morning definitely builds up a little appetite, so when I stumbled upon the adorable patio at World of Waves Surf House, I just had to stop for a healthy and refreshing shake. My choice? The delicious Avocado Milk option mixed with avocado, banana, dates, and milk. Okay, YUM.<\/p>\n

Good-sized shakes and smoothies run for about 25 dirham (equivalent to around $2.50), so you really can\u2019t beat it! Admittedly, a good portion of my trip\u2019s budget probably went to these tasty little devils, and I\u2019m certainly not complaining!<\/p>\n

3) TAKE A TRIP TO PARADISE VALLEY<\/h3>\n

You can\u2019t come to Taghazout (or anywhere near Agadir) without making a trip to Paradise Valley. The hostel I stayed at, Taghazout Surf Hostel<\/a>, takes it\u2019s guests once per week, and I can honestly say that it was one of the top highlights of my trip. I\u2019ll admit, when I heard the name \u201cParadise Valley,\u201d I thought to myself that it wouldn\u2019t be all that great \u2013 maybe something kitschy, if anything. But, oh my \u2013 how wrong I was!<\/p>\n

It seems like it should be classified as a wonder of the world or the ultimate hidden gem of sorts. After a 30-minute van ride with the other guests, we hiked for about 20 minutes into the interior valley and were ecstatic to stumble upon the most majestic hidden pools nestled comfortably between rocky cliffs.<\/p>\n

Normally, hostels in Taghazout have the option of making a visit to Paradise Valley but if yours doesn\u2019t, it\u2019s such a laid-back town that you could probably pay a few dirham to tag along on another hostel\u2019s trip (space permitting, of course!). Just check with the staff at your own hostel about potentially going with another group.<\/p>\n
