Being a Londoner I have spent many Saturday afternoons with girlfriends eating cucumber sandwiches and finishing off a few too many bottles of champagne at various Afternoon Tea hangouts across the city.<\/p>\n

This weekend I made my way to a new venue in Mayfair, Mr. Foggs of Mayfair The Residence<\/a>, a delightful place named of course after the explorer Mr. Phileas Fogg.<\/p>\n

Getting To Mr Foggs Residence<\/h2>\n

Tucked away on Bruton Lane in Mayfair, Mr Foggs is perfectly situated to enjoy an afternoon tea or an evening cocktail after shopping on nearby Bond Street. Bruton Lane<\/a> is located just to the southeasterly point of Berkeley Square – an affluent area of London that is home to many private banks, hedge funds, some of the cities best restaurants and pubs and within easy walking distance of Green Park tube station.<\/p>\n

As you arrive at Mr Foggs, a doorman will greet you outside and knock for entry whilst you wait – giving you the feeling of being let into a delightful secret that others have not found about yet!<\/p>\n

Travel Back In Time<\/h2>\n

Once inside you realize the d\u00e9cor is worth the visit alone. You instantly have the feeling that you have been transported back in time, which makes sense since the residence is styled in the era of Phileas Fogg, the protagonist in the 1872 Jules Verne novel Around the World in Eighty Days.<\/p>\n

The bar has a colonial feel and the room is a treasure trove of travel memorabilia adorned with old travel maps, globes, and even a parachute hanging from the ceiling!<\/p>\n

The Afternoon Tea<\/h2>\n

The main difference with Mr Foggs versus the traditional British afternoon tea is, of course, the drinks. You have a two-hour window to enjoy a selection of bottomless gin and champagne cocktails served in teapots!<\/p>\n

My favourite was the Isabella Mary Breton, a delicious blend of roisbois tea, Hendricks gin and Veuve Clicquot champagne. By the end of this, you will have a true understanding of why this is called Mr Foggs Tipsy Tea! Tipsy Tea costs From \u00a344 per person and is available on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

At the Residence, you can also opt for the Winter Whisky Tasting (launching in January 2020), if the gin tipsy tea doesn’t take your fancy. Mr Fogg’s in-house experts will guide you through five chosen whiskies from across the globe, bringing you flavours from Japan, Scotland, India, Australia and the Americas. Winter Whisky Tasting costs \u00a350 per person.<\/p>\n

I recommend you make a reservation well in advance for any of Mr Fogg’s locations or experiences, especially for big groups or over the weekend as you are unlikely to be able to walk in without a reservation.<\/p>\n

The Other Mr Foggs<\/h2>\n

Since opening the first Mr Foggs in Mayfair more have appeared in locations across the city. You can now enjoy an experience at one of a few bars in Covent Garden, Liverpool Street and Fitzrovia.<\/p>\n
